I’m still alive! OCTOBER-APRIL catch up post

April 6th, 2009

Shortly after my last post I seemed to have dissappeared. It may have been the advent of FaceBook!! BAD!

But I’ll give you a monthly update…

October - end of October I found 3-4 days to craft up a burlesque-ish windup dolly costume and managed to WIN myself MOST ORIGINAL in the Asbury Park Halloween Costume Parade!

img_1916.jpg

I made my WHOLE costume! A woman asked me if I made wedding dresses….I’m getting there! Imagine if I did…I’d never post!

Later that month I “found” Rock-N-Roll Karaoke (or it found me)….I’m hooked.

I celebrated on 3 separate occasions! and I don’t even have a lick of Irish blood in me! 1) Belmar Day Parade, 2) NYC St Patty’s Day Parade, 3) a friend’s Irish Fetting

Where is Vivian?

October 17th, 2008

Kinda like Where’s Waldo…hey did anybody else ever think it was kinda weird that he never changed his outfit…oh wait that was the point! I mean did he ever wash the thing?!?

Ok so I’ve been MIA for a few months…but with good reason…I think I may be expereinceing some post-partum blues after BIRTH! I think I get it! Birth was a whirlwind, amazing project that took central NJ by storm! So much time and energy (oddly enough probably about 9 months worth!) and then, poof!! It’s over! BIRTH was born and now this director/producer has to “let-go” as a parent does as soon as the baby (project) was born.

We had OVER 200 pple attend the performance, that I produced and directed, over the 3 days, one of which was during the tropical storm!!! But that didn’t stop them from coming!

I promise more soon….I know you’ve been asking…and I just have SOOOO many options to choose from and I’m just not sure what creative artistic outlet to use my talents in next!

vvcolor.jpg

This is a brand new show created by many people. These are our stories told with humor, complexity, and complete honesty.

Mattison Park and The Provincetown Fringe Festival in Asbury Park present VIVA VAGINA directed by Marjorie Conn and inspired by Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues.

Performances are at Mattison Park at 649 Mattison Avenue in Asbury Park on Tuesdays, May 13, 20 and 27 at 7 pm. Tickets are $10. Food and drinks will also be available.

Call Mattison Park for reservations at 732-807-3435.
For further information please call 732-807-4052.

VIVA VAGINA is a performance piece created for 9 women with special surprise guest stars every week. These are our personal stories in the form of monologues, dialogues, poems, and skits. This theatrical collage is a celebration of our sensuality, sexuality and who we are as women. Enter into this forbidden zone with us. We will peel off the layers and you will see what is at the heart of every woman.

On any given night you may see any of the following: Andrea Phox, Anna Oleinik, Anne Berkowitz, Charlita Williams, Cheryl Fitzmaurice, Christine Emmert, Dr. Geena, Ku’uipo Latonio-Radice, Lesley Castellini, Lorraine Stone, Marie Cathleen, Marjorie Conn, Sharon Lucas, Susan Marco, Susan Pellegrini and Vivian Taormina.

All the material is original written not only by the performers themselves but also by invited playwrights. We will also be switching parts every week.

Come celebrate with us.

Wishes coming true?

April 6th, 2008

Are any wishes coming true out there? I put on my Wish Necklace a week before Valentine’s Day and it is STILL holding on, as I patiently wait for my wish. It goes through the ringer and still holds on tight!
Would like to hear your story! Please comment!

And “shout out” to the Colorado yogis who have been buying them!

Couldn’t get the rights

April 3rd, 2008

The Producer was not granted the rights to the the Vagina Monologues, so the group is collaborating on something titled “Viva Vagina” our own incarnation, kinda like a spin-off of the Vagina Monologues. Should be interesting!

The show will still be held in May at Mattison Park, Asbury Park

Vagina Monologues are back!

March 6th, 2008

picture-2.png

Mark your calendars! The Vagina Monologues hit Asbury Park once again. This time taking home at Mattison Park Tuesdays in May. May 13, 20, & 27

Many of the same women from the first run, including myself, will be participating in this run too but some new faces might be needed. This show is being sponsored by sponsored by Mattison Park, ArtsCap, and Provincetown Fringe Festival in Asbury Park.

Let’s fill those seats!

RAVE: “State of Fear” documentary

March 4th, 2008

As part of the Two River Film Festival, I attended the free screening of State of Fear, just a little bit different from Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day I had seen days earlier!

The movie opens with a statement about how this could take place anywhere in the world, this story happens to be about Peru. It is scary how the story strangely parallels the present state of our own nation.
